Description

Penpot offers an open source design and prototyping platform for cross-functional teams.

Is there value to host an instance of this with a library of Nasqueron assets?

dereckson triaged this task as Wishlist priority.Mar 15 2022, 18:35
dereckson created this task.

We need a project needing design to deploy this I guess.

No identified need right now as projects working now uses the infra.nasqueron.org gray/green design or don't offer a web UI.

dereckson raised the priority of this task from Wishlist to Normal.
dereckson moved this task from Nope / later to Current focus on the Product evaluation board.

We want to try to build a status page, so Penpot could be a nice tool for that.

Provisioned new secrets to Vault under ops/secrets/nasqueron/penpot/

The GitHub application has already been installed on Nasqueron org to allow OAuth login.

Some uses since installation:

  • some trial for status page mocks
  • Wolfplex Explore magazine article layout

Apparently, we've some use for it and can keep it.

Next actions could be:

  • ask Jenkins to drive the build of Penpot for artifacts, eventually with the help of Salt
  • install administration panel, so we can help to fix access issues to workspaces
  • update it and document the update process doing so

Upgrade suggested

Currently we're in 1.19.3, one of the last version before the 2.0.

Perhaps it could be time to upgrade?

New features to evaluate:

  • Gradients
  • PenPot Library
  • HTML code generation

A careful reading of the changelog is needed for migration:

  • their nginx container uses port 8080 (we don't use it)
  • redis -> valkey
  • app.migrations.media-refs migration
