For 2027, we'd like to introduce a common design language for content. This task focus on colors.
The color palette goal would be to embody the core values of Nasqueron: free culture, depth, organic growth.
By using colors at first imagined for living spaces, the palette can be designed to be sophisticated and "photographed" rather than artificially "rendered," adhering to the principle of focus through restraint.
The best fit seems like in 2017 to start from the Sherwin-Williams 2027 Colormix Forecast.
5 colors have been selected:
- Mountain Fig
- Deep Sea Dive
- Little Blue Box
- Grenadine
- Stolen Kiss
We're writing text on web instead of painting walls, so small adjustments will be done to maximize contrast. For example, out of the box, we've a ratio between 6 and 7 between deep dive and whiteys colors. The color will lose a little luminosity to reach 7.
Similarly, the gray from mountain fig could benefit from luminosity level decrease to offer a better foundation on a lit laptop screen.
Task deliverables
Create design studies to validate the concept, adjust if needed.
Deliver a reference document easy to follow when creating new UI.
Scope
Are in scope:
- Agora theme for the whole wiki: apply CSS to Timeless to repaint the whole UI with those colors
- Agora blocks like user presentations, events, homepage
- Micro-sites for events, invitations
- Presentations of the project
Are not in scope:
- The infra theme for rINFRAWWW or 50x errors: even if they can benefit from a green update, we can't express the green nuances with that palette as is ; I've identified a grenadine / fig good combo for headings, but that's not coherent with our choices (headings are in deep dive)
Candidates for scope:
- The servers page really need a design refresh from the cloud elevator design, they could use either the new 2027 colors, either the infra colors ; my call would be to wait for a infra theme refresh first
- The www. site
Prior art
In 2017, we prepared a new color palette at https://agora.nasqueron.org/Design/2017_colors#Palettes
That color scheme was used for launch.nasqueron.org and Agora user page. That color scheme was based on Sherwin-Williams color forecast for 2017 "noir" - https://www.sherwin-williams.com/architects-specifiers-designers/color/color-forecast/2017-color-forecast/noir
